Hey Apex UMC Youth It Is Our Turn to

Lead Worship!

We have been planning our Youth Sunday Service for several weeks and now we need your help. We have been given an

awesome opportunity to lead our

congregation in worship so lets everyone come out and support our church by taking part in these worship services at 9:35 and 11:00 on May 2nd. We need all youth grades 6th through 12th grade to come out

Saturday May 1st at 2:00 P.M. in the CLC for practice and for the services the

following that Sunday. On Sunday, parents please drop off your youth at 8:30 A.M. at the CLC for warm up. We will provide breakfast and

beverages.

Hot News From Worship Arts at Apex UMC:

GODSPELL Auditions May 18 and 20: The Apex UMC Drama Ministry will hold auditions for the summer production of the musical GODSPELL on Tuesday, May 18 and Thursday, May 20. Auditions will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Music Building/Sanctuary at the S. Hughes Street Campus. Those auditioning need to prepare a musical theater or pop song to be sung a cappella and should bring a list of all rehearsal conflicts. All youth and adults are welcome and encouraged to audition!
GODSPELL is a rock musical version of the gospel according to St. Matthew. Conceived and originally directed by John-Michael Tebelak with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz (‘Wicked’ and ‘Pippin’), GODSPELL boasts a fun and energetic score that brings the parables of Jesus Christ to life. Drawing from various theatrical traditions such as clowning, vaudeville, pantomime, and charades, GODSPELL is a unique and moving reflection on the life of Jesus, with a message of kindness, love, and community.

SEDER Meal

“Who says Easter doesn’t have a grand meal, like Thanksgiving and Christmas? Contrary. This Palm Sunday, the 6^th – 9^th grade Sunday School Classes held an authentic Seder Meal, commemorating the Passover Dinner as a meaningful way to prepare for Easter. The traditional and Jewish celebration of the Passover miracle resulting in the Hebrew exodus, was led by Rev. Lee Barnes who explained the story of the last supper of Jesus and the apostles in the upper room. Real yamakas were worn and all 5 senses were involved as the symbolism of all items served, was discussed. The event was memorable for all 40 participants.
Charoset spread on Matzoh (unleavened) bread was enjoyed; while, there was little demand for the leftover parsley and horseradish (bitter herbs). Following the Seder meal, a special communion was performed, as each person served communion elements to the adjacent person.”

Happy Holy Week and April Fools Day!

Coming Up The Rest of the Week:
Maundy Thursday Communion and Footwashing: Apr. 1, 7 p.m., CLC
On Maundy Thursday we remember the Last Supper and betrayal of Jesus Christ. Each year, we try to capture a different element of Jesus’ final days. This year, we will celebrate Holy Communion and have a foot-washing service as we remember his words: “Unless I wash you, you have no share with me.” Having your feet washed is not mandatory. Just come and worship.

Good Friday Tenebrae Service: Apr. 2, 7 p.m., sanctuary
On Good Friday we remember the crucifixion and death of Jesus. We will worship using the traditional Tenebrae (meaning Shadows of Darkness) Service. This liturgy is a stark and powerful retelling of the Passion story with rich musical offerings and a deeply spiritual emphasis.

Easter Egg Hunt: Apr. 3, 10 a.m., CLC. There will be crafts, snacks and an egg hunt for children 1st grade and younger. Bring your baskets and friends and join in the fun!
